Ivie Ikechukwu
Lecturer , Edo State College of Nursing Sciences

Mrs. Ivie Ikechukwu holds a BSc, in Biochemistry from Ambrose Alli University and MPH (with specialization in reproductive and family health) from the University of Benin. She also has a certificate in Global Health Project Management from the University of Washington.

 

She has previous work experience in primary health care and water treatment. She is research-oriented and has undergone internships at Lahor Public Health and Research Centre (LPHRC), and Women’s Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC). She has researched and published on Medicalization of Female Genital Cutting, in the Journal of Community Medicine and Primary Health Care (JCMPHC). She is a member of the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB).

 

She values integrity, continuous learning, career development and is committed to becoming a better version of herself. She is passionate about teaching, a job she does wholeheartedly, while she loves to volunteer for community services.  Her volunteering work experience includes Vitamin A Supplementation for Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) week, community mobilization for family planning, media advocacy for the Friends of Special Children Foundation, among others. Apart from teaching, she is passionate about mentoring adolescent girls on reproductive health, loves to be with children and enjoys writing and blogging. Her research interests are in nutrition, reproductive health and child health.

 

She is a Christian, and is happily married and blessed with three children.
